Filthy rich Sam ‘Mshengu’ Chabalala may have already killed himself, suicide note suggests
Controversial multi-millionaire Sam “Mshengu” Chabalala who was recently arrested for a number of offences has disappeared saying he is fearing for his life which he claims to be in danger.
Chabalala is said to have sent his wife a suicide note complaining about how he is been treated asking what wrong he had done to deserve such a treatment, raising fears that the businessman could have committed suicide.
Chabalala seems to be a man on the run, he recently failed to appear in a Witbank court to answer a number of charges being leveled against him prompting a warrant of arrest to be issued for him on Friday.
The allegations being levelled against him include corruption, unauthorised possession of a firearm and ammunition and falsifying information to gain entry into the country among others.
In September 2019, he was freed out of custody on R200,000 bail. Currently, Chabalala is again, out on R500,000 bail on another count of corruption charges and allegedly attempting to bribe a senior police officer seeking the illegal release of his vehicle and to cause the disappearance of his docket.
Meanwhile, in the note that Chabalala wrote to his wife, Lerato Legodi, which he also sent to some of his workers at Sam Holdings, Chabalala said he was afraid that he was going to be murdered.
Chabalala was last seen by his employees on March 3.
“I am not worried about the court cases but the incident that happened on Sunday it’s clear that these people are really mean to kill me [sic].
“My worry is I never wrong anyone, or steal for anyone or this country, what really I have done to deserve this [sic].
“Sam Holdings I started it from nothing with the help of no one, but now its clearly that my business and success is the source of all my current problems I’m facing [sic],” he wrote.
In the note, Chabalala said he didn’t want to put the lives of his loved ones at risk any more.
“…They failed to keep me in jail; now they come straight to kill me. The people I used to call my friends and I did help them are the ones destroying me right now,” he said.
Chabalala further claimed that the Hawks had been bribed to hunt him down.
“I know my wife you wish to barry my body [sic] but I hope you will be able to find the remaining [sic] of me as I’m going to throw myself in the crocodiles river or game reserve after Pongola as you go to Lwulwuwe [Hluhluwe] N2. I have hiked to come here,” he added.
