Fans seriously worried about Babes Wodumo’s Husband Mampintsha
Durban Kwaito artist Mampintsha has been informed by his fans to consider changing his stage name. The fans believe Mandla Maphumulo’s stage name (Mampintsha) no longer suits his character as the Kwaito star has shed a lot of weight.
Mampintsha in IsiZulu refers to a chubby built person who takes over all the space. At the height of his career under the much-loved group Big Nuz his stage name complemented his physic and character. However, lately, his fans aren’t much pleased as his stage name misrepresents his new look.
The fans made this suggestion after Mampintsha and Danger (Big Nuz) shared a photograph together on social media at a listening session in Johannesburg. Big Nuz eJozi testing new songs. Instead of looking forward to the music, fans were more concerned about Mampintsha’s weight.
Sboniso Nzimande said: “You need to come with a new name for yourself now. The Mampintsha has become ‘loose’” Nhlanhla Mdanda said: “Change your name to Maxega now”. Fanelwe Mkhwanamubi said: “If getting married leaves you like this, the whole concept can rather miss me”.
Big Nuz, a South African Kwaito trio from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal was founded in 2002. The group was composed of three members known by their stage names Mampintsha, Danger and the late R Mashesha who passed away in 2015.
Following R Mashesha’s passing, the group experienced turbulence and eventually, the remaining members went their separate ways to forge their solo careers.
Mampintsha opened West Ink music label which introduced the likes of Babes Wodumo and Distruction Boyz to the music scene. Danger moved on to work with L’vovo and also start his own record label which was nothing compared to West Ink.
Of late the duo seem to be rekindling their spark – working together and giving what fans always wanted. Their latest project is being cooked in Johannesburg where they are working with Amapiano god Kabza de Small.
