Crown Gospel Music Awards 2021 Winners List

GOSPEL fans who dazzled The Playhouse Company for the recording of the Crown Gospel Music Awards on Friday, 12 November, couldn’t wait for the announcement of the winners.

But, to their disappointment, winners for two categories were not announced since the voting lines had not yet been closed.

The winners of the two categories, Best Gospel Artist and Best Gospel Song, are expected to be announced during the broadcast of the show on SABC 2 on 28 November.

Artists such as Takie Ndou, Ayanda Ntanzi, Canaan Nyathi, Xolly Mncwango, and Jumbo are contesting in these categories.

The awards, taking place for the 14th year, were previously held at Durban ICC. But following Covid-19, they were recorded at The Playhouse Company this year, under strict lockdown regulations.

Idols SA winner and pastor Khaya Mthethwa was the host of the ceremony, that saw artists dressed in their glamorous gowns and suits.

The crowd was entertained by performances from Abakhethwa Gospel Group, Crown Gospel Choir, Dr Tumi, Jumbo and Ayanda, among others. And, celebrities in attendance included Mike Ndlangamandla, MacDonald Ndou as well as twins Viggy and Virginia Qwabe.

Awards founder Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, rocking a royal blue dress, thanked God for carrying them through all the years.

“Fourteen years later, #HeIsStillJehovah! As the World Gospel Powerhouse, we are elated to have reached this milestone and we thank God for carrying us thus far. Through the Crown Gospel Music Awards, we have not only been able to celebrate artists, but we also created a platform were musicians can be recognised for their God-given talents,” she said.
