By now our favourite Mzansi celebrities must have mastered ways to deal with trolls on social media. The streets are always busy and anytime celebs are attacked, therefore they obviously had to find a way to deal with such. Here is Somizi with a smart and peaceful clap back:

One Twitter user took to the platform complaining about how much DSTV is charging. He then went on to drag Somizi in the #DSTVMustFall campaign that has been gaining major traction on social media seeing he’s one of the service provider’s faces.

According to the tweep, Somgaga doesn’t have to pay for the DSTV bouquet otherwise he would probably be at the forefront of the #DSTVMustFall campaign. He even went as far as tagging the reality star in his post.

“We all know that people like bo @somizi don’t pay @DStv had it been that he was paying he would be leading this campaign #DstvMustFall. I’m even overcharged extra R4 from paying R495 to now paying R499,” the tweep expressed his frustration.

Lerato Sengadi over the moon as Supreme Court rules in her favour

Lerato Sengadi over the moon as Supreme Court rules in her favour

It’s been 2 years since Hip Hop giant HHP died but his customary wife Lerato Sengadi has been fighting for the right to be recognized as his lawful wife.

Following the rapper’s death, his family barred Lerato from the funeral and all other affairs pertaining to the life and death of the rapper because they didn’t recognize her as his legal wife.

At the time the Tsambo family spokesperson went on record to say:

“I would like to put this matter to rest and categorically state on record that Ms Sengadi is not, and was never married to Jabulani. She is not his wife!”

Lerato hit back, went to the High court, and won but despite her High court win, she hadn’t received anything from her husband’s estate.

“As it stands NOTHING that was awarded 2 me in my previous High Court win was handed over. Hopefully, after Friday, this messy ordeal will be over. #IWillNotCower,”

The family appealed the judgment on the 6th of March this year.

The Supreme Court has finally put the matter to rest.

It seems justice has finally prevailed and Lerato can now hold her head high as the late rapper’s wife.

The erection of a tombstone for the rapper has been another contentious issue with Lerato previously lashing out at trolls on Twitter over it.

I can afford to erect a Stone for my husband. If I was allowed to!!! In fact, I would have had it done on the same day as his funeral. But Ke…

Don’t u even fucken try!!!! Ask his family why there isn’t a proper stone there?! Do u think I would let this kind of shit happen if it was in my control?! A stone fit for the King he is would have been erected SAME DAY!! So ask them!”

She vows to erect one when the lockdown ends.

She can finally put the matter behind her and heal.

Sophie Ndaba breaks the mould to showcase talent

Sophie Ndaba breaks the mould to showcase talent

It took Sophie Ndaba going from glamour to grit on screen to get rid of Queen Moroka, a process that led Ndaba to get her groove back.

Ndaba completely disappears into the image of her demented character Palesa in prison drama Lockdown currently airing on Mzansi Magic.

With a deep scar on her face, minimal makeup and no fancy hair, Ndaba’s appearance in the show is spine-chilling – and that is the point.

Her dramatic physical make-under reminds me of my favourite line from the biopic Rocketman in which Reginald Dwight transforms into his stage name Elton John: “You gotta kill the person you were born to be to become the person you want to be.”

In order to evolve into a new era it was vital that Ndaba killed the image of Queen Moroka – the fabulous, off-kilter and dolled-up character that made her showbiz royalty for 28 years.

Ndaba says the many years of being typecast as comic relief and not being offered roles that showcase her acting range were the lowest of her illustrious career. “[My lowest career moment] was not being able to play roles I have wanted to play and not being given a chance to play because everyone saw Queen. Producers and writers could not see me play anything else. It was sad.”

Ndaba not only undergoes a physical transformation playing the deranged head nurse working at a mental institution. But she shows off her dramatic acting chops and the result has been emotionally poignant for viewers and naysayers who have praised her performance.

“Queen was ‘darling this and that’. Palesa is on another level and she has history,” she says. “Palesa represents a lot of broken women in SA. It’s an authentic role – a role worth playing. Most women are scarred inside and for Palesa she has both the inside and outside scars. The scar on her face makes her very uncomfortable, vulnerable and less confident.

One unforgettable scene is in episode 2 when she looks at herself in the mirror – removing her wig and makeup – as she wails in shame.

“It took me time and I literally requested the floor crew to give me a moment in silence.

“I had to find her pain; the director allowed that moment and after I dug deep she came out.”

Ndaba knows pain well, especially in the past two years as she has been a victim of social media bullying.

She endured public humiliation after her sudden weight loss as a result of type 2 diabetes. But being the formidable figure that she is, Ndaba has emerged stronger than ever.

“Oh gosh, talking about cyber bullying is not nice and it will never be because these are my fellow South African sisters and brothers out there,” Ndaba says.

“It really broke my heart when they didn’t understand what I was going through. I was dealing with so many things ranging from acceptance, stress and depression.

“Then we added SA to my list of attackers. Oh Lord, I just couldn’t believe it. What happened to ubuntu nje? Kicking a horse when it’s down and you’re supposed to be a sister or brother.

“Being in the public eye is one thing. People thinking they own you enough to say whatever and get away with it – it was deep.”

But the support of her family that includes her businessman husband Max Lichaba got her through it.

“I have a family to fight for. My kids are amazing. They took care of me in my lowest moments – prayed and fasted for me.

“My young step kids, the hugs and love they give to me it’s heavenly. I’m blessed to be called mom by 12 kids.

“Motherhood is worth every hour and minute. During Covid-19 at home I have bonded more with them.”

In November, Ndaba and Lichaba celebrated their second wedding anniversary.

“Married life is hectic. It’s a project that one must never be too comfortable with and forget to work on it each day.

“As a career-driven couple with kids you have your family and yourselves to think of. But it’s a blessing never to be taken for granted. I love marriage. I’m working on it as best as I can.”

Ndaba’s first taste of fame came as a young model from Soweto in TV show Class of ’92. Before long she was cast in Generations and went on to score other acting gigs. “. I remembered how in our Soweto family home I was a pregnant teenager and asked my late mother Joyce to trust me with her pension money – and that I would multiply it and be their breadwinner. It was amazing that she took in my daughter. I knocked on agencies doors and I made her proud.”

Behind the seams of Lindiwe’s killer fashion on ‘The River’

Fans of this telenovela weren’t keen on the leading lady’s onscreen looks at first, admits costume designer Kgomotso Dipholo

Behind the seams of Lindiwe's killer fashion on 'The River'

Since it first hit screens in 2018, Mzansi Magic’s The River has become one of the most talked about telenovelas in SA.

This addictive mining drama is also the show that scooped up the most accolades at this year’s South African Film and Television Awards — including the Best Wardrobe and Best Make-up and Hairstyling prizes for a TV soap.

At the centre of many of the show’s deliciously twisted plotlines is Lindiwe Dlamini-Dikana, a character played by Sindi Dlathu. Lindiwe is a smart, fierce mining magnate who is always dressed to kill thanks to The River’s costume designer, Kgomotso Dipholo.

We asked Dipholo to take us behind the seams of Lindiwe’s wardrobe, and share some insight into how she uses fashion to amplify the character’s personality on screen:

How would you best describe Lindiwe’s style?

Drama on two legs.

Run us through what goes into putting Lindiwe’s wardrobe together.

Her dresses usually depict where the story is going or even her mood in a particular scene. It’s not just about putting her in an outfit because it looks nice, it’s about her telling a story. Our audience will even notice that certain items mean she is going to kill someone.

What would you say is the most iconic ensemble for the character?

Well, we’ve had a lot because she dresses to kill most of the time. But one that I love is the Xhosa attire she wore for Zolani and Tumi’s white wedding. It said, “I am here, I am a powerful black woman, I am stylish and I am all about my roots”.

Behind the seams of Lindiwe's killer fashion on 'The River'

What key elements define the character’s style?

One of her biggest fashion signatures are her big sleeves and big collared shirts.

How has the audience reacted to Lindiwe’s distinctive style?

When we started out, big sleeves and the big collars were not a thing, and did they not have me on Twitter? I even stopped going online because I knew they were going to crush me. There were even tweets about her looking like an apostolic church woman.

I wanted to create a character that was different and that you would look forward to seeing not just because of their acting but because of what they are wearing.

Two years down the line people are on board with the big sleeves and Lindiwe’s style.

Who are some of the designers who have created items for Lindiwe?

One person that I work with a lot is Sello Medupe of Scalo; we also worked with Gert-Johan Coetzee for Tumi’s wedding.

Many people would like to dress for the office in the same way Lindiwe does. Do you have any tips for doing so?

Office work is already boring enough, so I say be bold. Step out of the ordinary and go big so that when you look at those mountains of files you know you can dig into them.

Lindiwe, the character, has limitless money but in reality we are a production with a budget. So, I try to go for pieces that you can dress up or down without it being a mission.

• To see more of Lindiwe’s drop-dead gorgeous looks, catch ‘The River’ on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161).

OK, so at first everyone was like was all glammed up and ready to attend the virtual red carpet. #excited

But then it was delayed till 8pm. At 8pm, one hour late turned into two then three and now everyone was wondering what the hold up is…

Then Mzansi went into young “we don’t know whether to stay up or give up” phase.

The show eventually happened, though it was by no means smooth.

However, after a very “fast” online ceremony, Mzansi got its list of winners and took to Twitter to celebrate.

There were emotional speeches and a flood of congratulatory messages.

Here is the 411 below.
