Calls for Kelly Khumalo’s arrest after allegations she ordered hit on Senzo Meyiwa

Mzansi social media users want singer well-known singer, Kelly Khumalo arrested.

This comes after the North Gauteng High Court heard on Wednesday, 24 January, that the Ngathwala Ngaye hitmaker ordered her boyfriend Senzo Meyiwa’s killing. The information is contained in lead investigator Brigadier Bongani Gininda’s affidavit.

In Gininda’s affidavit, which he deposed in November 2020, accused number one and two (Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi) implicated Khumalo as the person who ordered the hit.

Meyiwa was shot dead inside Khumalo’s family home in Vosloorus in October 2014. Khumalo; her sister, Zandile; Zandile’s boyfriend, Longwe Twala; the singer’s mother, Ntombi Khumalo; and two of Meyiwa’s friends, Mthokozisi Thwala and Tumelo Madlala, were all in the house that fateful day.

Earlier this week, the court heard that Meyiwa’s murder was not a botched robbery, as initially portrayed by the witnesses. It was rather a contractual assassination.

The affidavit further revealed that there were four cellphone numbers linked to Khumalo which she did not disclose. Investigations showed that these numbers linked Khumalo to accused number three, Mthobisi Ncube, and accused number five, Fisokuhle Ntuli.

“It was further discovered that, through cellphone analysis, her cellphone memory album has the same photo of a see-through bag containing cash notes and in the exact position or location or spot as that of accused number three.”

Gininda said there is no reasonable explanation as to why Khumalo would be in contact with her boyfriend’s killers.

Furthermore, communication records between the musician and her sister disclosed that she allegedly wanted to “get rid of the deceased as early as 2013”.

“It is apparently clear that she hated him and wanted to get rid of him. She further states that she regrets not succeeding to get rid of him before. Taking all of this into account, an inference can be drawn she meant killing him.

“Cellphone records show that after the incident took place, she called a number of people but no call was made to emergency services. She also subsequently went to [a traditional healer] for cleansing as it was done by her other accused in this matter,” Gininda said.
