Bodies of missing Thulani Mayixhale & his niece, Asisipho found

Thulani Mayixhale (38) and his niece Asisipho Mayixhale (22) have been confirmed dead after their bodies were found at the Klip River stream near Golden Highway, south of Joburg.

Asisipho’s body was found on Monday, 17 October while Thulani’s was found on Tuesday.

Thulani’s partner, Monica Solwandle, confirmed that the bodies that were discovered there were those of her loved ones.

She told Daily Sun: “We have found my partner and niece, unfortunately, they are no more.”

The search for the pair began last Thursday after they went off the radar and could not be reached on their cellphones.

They went missing on Thursday when they left their home in Protea Glen and headed to the river near Fun Valley.

Messages of condolences poured in for Monica and the family following the confirmation.

On Twitter, Duchess of Gqeberha said: “No way Monica, I am so sorry. I’ve been following and hoping for a positive outcome. May their souls rest in peace. Condolences to your family and his.”

Monica’s red Audi A1, which was driven by Thulani, was found on the side of the road near the river and the family dog, Virgo, which was with the pair, was found guarding the car.

Though the car was found intact, the window on the driver’s seat was broken and some of the contents inside were missing.

The clothes of the deceased were also found around the area, while their shoes were found just on the banks of the river.
