Bheki Cele reveals why he didn’t attend AKA’s murder scene
Minister of Police Bheki Cele has revealed why he did not go to the murder scene of slain South African rapper, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes also known as AKA, following his high-profile shooting on Friday, 10 February.
AKA was fatally shot with his friend, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane outside Wish restaurant on Florida Road in Durban. Bheki Cele has been urged to crack the case and find the people responsible for the rapper’s murder. Although he has remained silent on the issue, he did open up in a news conference on Friday, 17 February, as to why he did not attend the murder scene.
Cele told the media that they don’t go to murder scenes for cameras. “We don’t really go for cameras. There was no need to go to this one”.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Bheki Cele revealed that he had been in constant contact with Provincial Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and Brigadier Vela Cele. He also revealed that he spoke with the Forbves family and they were satisfied with his job.
“I spoke at length with the family of AKA Tony Forbes. So why would I have to go to the crime scene?
“The family is very satisfied. I have beautiful messages from the family, which I won’t read”.
