Babes Wodumo recently teared up on stage while performing her late husband Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo’s song, Ngeke. A video of her crying was shared on Twitter. In the video, Babes can be seen wiping away tears while dancing and singing the Big Nuz member’s song Ngeke. Mampintsha died of a stroke on December 24, 2022, at the age of 40.

Shortly after her husband’s death, Babes lost two family members. She lost her mother-in-law, Zamanguni Gumede in January and her uncle, Mduduzi Masikane this February.

Her sister, Nondumiso Simelane, told TshisaLIVE that she is not doing well. She said Babes misses Mampintsha and sometimes she calls for him and realizes that he has passed away.

“Emotionally, she is not okay. She needs to fix herself first. She needs to heal but that woman (Mampinstha’s sister) is not giving her time to heal and get a grip on reality and how to move forward. She misses him a lot. She would call for him then realizes he is gone,” said Nondumiso as quoted by the report.

Babes also made headlines for recently being a no-show at events she was booked on.

The South African reported that Babes was booked at the three venues: Estradini pub in Estcourt and Second Half Bar and Restaurant in Nquthu; the singer was also alleged to have been a no-show at Ora Lifestyle in Pietermaritzburg on January 21. Estradini Lifestyle management reportedly said that the Wololo hitmaker was paid R18 000 for her performance on Saturday 28 January.
