AKA opened up about being snubbed at Nelli Tembe’s funeral program
AKA addressed vital issues in the Mass Country album which was posthumously released on Friday, 24th of February. The rapper talked about life, his current relationship, family, and his ex-lover Nelli Tembe who died after jumping off the balcony of a hotel. Nelli died a few weeks after accepting Kiernan “AKA” Forbes’ proposal and payment of her lobola. However, he was not honoured by the Tembe’s family.
“I can feel no pain, nothing comes close to the way I feel when I go back in my memory bank and I see that frame. That s**t burned my brain forever,” said AKA in Diary (Anxiety). Kiernan said he had a speech to give at Nelli’s funeral but he was silenced.
“I gave it everything that I had. How you gon’ cap and not even make one phone call to my mom or my dad after we part to send down the casket? That s**t is wack. Passive aggressive. Never mind Bheki Cele, he wasn’t even on the programme. I wrote the speech and took my seat and nope nothing. My name was nowhere,” AKA says in the song.
